Mary
Lowe had reason to worry. When she saw her husband Philip and two of
her children begin to gain weight, she remembered what her husband had
told her. Two of his brothers had fallen victim in their early forties
to heart attacks and his sister had developed carotid artery disease.
To make matters worse Philip's blood pressure was extremely high.

Mary
applied for the SuperSized Kids
8-week Lifestyle Change Program after she saw an announcement on Channel
9 news in Orlando.
She wanted her husband Philip, and their 3 children Philip Jr. (age
15), Kyle (age 13), and Samantha (age 10) to turn their lives around
and prevent future health problems due to the obesity threat. Another
concern was Kyle's cholesterol, which had topped 200.
With a family weight of 763 pounds Mary and her family were eager to
start making different decisions about their health.

After
joining the SuperSized Kids
8-week program the Lowe Family made some significant lifestyle changes.
Philip Jr. is now aware of how watching TV late at night can be the
reason why he struggles to fall asleep. Kyle began working out regularly
in order to bring down his high blood pressure. Samantha tried humus
during one of the Tuesday night meetings and now really enjoys that
healthy snack. The entire Lowe family also made some simple changes
in their diet which proved key to their success.
For
Kyle's 13th birthday he wanted to go to the RDV
Sportsplex because now he could workout on the treadmills and weights
with his mom, dad, and older brother! The whole family is proud to now
consider themselves an active family instead of a "couch potato"
family.
Specifically they found success in:
- Eating less red meat, and more poultry
- Eating more vegetables and fruit
- Adding lots of whole grain to their diet
- Working out regularly at the health club
- Getting much more rest at night

By
the end of the 8-week program the Lowe family had lost a total of 40
pounds. "We think the book and the eight week program are wonderful,"
wrote the family.
As a result of going through the 8-week program father Philip's high
blood pressure and cholesterol were lowered and the family found they
spent more time together. And what about the future? According to the
Lowe family, "We plan on sticking with these changes we have made
and are trying to improve in other areas."
